Day 1: Tangier – Asilah – Rabat
Early departure from your Hotel or Riad in Tangier, direction the charming city of Asilah, a city of artists and home to many art galleries, you may want to visit the Old Portuguese walled city dating from the fifteenth century. Continuation towards Larache, visit of the old medina: a maze of narrow streets all leading to the sea and the village of Moulay Bousselham which owes its name to the person who was the founder. Don’t miss to visit the lovely small port of the city, near one of the most Brands ornithological sites in Morocco. Arrival in Rabat, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Rabat - Casablanca – Marrakech
Breakfast and visit of the kingdom’s capital RABAT. Rabat has always been a seminal town with the ruins of Chela, an ancient Roman city, and the numerous monuments dating to the 13th century. The Almohad dynasty, under Yacub El Mansour, has devoted the town by building the Chellah necropolis. The Hassan Tour (which ought to have been one of the biggest mosques of the Moslem world). Then we take a ride to Oudayas Kasbah. And more recently, you have the Mausoleum of the late king Mohamed V, architect of independence in 1956. This Mausoleum is a real jewel of Moroccan architecture art.
Departure for Casablanca, the economic capital, second town of Africa it is the main business and industrial centre. A guided city tour will take us to the outside of the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, the second largest Mosque in the world, also to Aïn Diab coast with its beautiful swimming pools; cafes, restaurants, private clubs and hotels, then we will visit some hidden parts of the old Medina of Casablanca.
Continuation to Marrakech where we will have dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Marrakech - Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate
Early city tour in Marrakech to explore the wonders of this beautiful city, we will start by a visit to the famous Jamaa El Fna Square, the old Koutoubia Mosque and the amazing Bahia Palace, before taking a walk through the amazing Medina souks.
After this short visit we will take the direction of Ouarzazate, we will cross the High Atlas Mountains and reach the Tizi N’Tichka’s pass with 2260 m high, Continuation to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, we will visit this wonderful Ksar which was selected as World Heritage by UNESCO… Then Continuation to Ouarzazate where we will spend the third night of this tour in a very charming Berber guest house.
Day 4: Ouarzazate – Tamnougalt - Zagora
A small city tour in Ouarzazate with eventually a visit to some handicraft workshops then departure to Agdez, passing over the Tizi-n-Tinfifite Mountain pass (1660m), we continue via the Draa valley, passing the gardens, oases and Kasbahs between the Draa River and the mountains. We stop at Kasbah Tamnougalte for tea/coffee. This Kasbah is the oldest in the Draa valley and still partly inhabited. You could wander round and explore the Kasbah with a guide if you wish, lunch and continuation to Zagora, the largest oasis in the Draa valley and especially famous for its dates.
We continue to Tamegroute with a visit to the Koranic libraray and the local potteries, which produce all the green pottery that you will see in the south. Dinner and overnight in Zagora.
Day 5: Zagora – Tazzarine – Erfoud – Merzouga
After breakfast, departure for Merzouga through unique desert landscapes, sprinkled with oasis. This very beautiful road with many small oases was one of the largest caravans. Lunch in a local restaurant on the way. Continuation towards Merzouga dunes.
You will experience a true camel trek in the middle of the desert, enjoying the great solitude, immensity, and silence of the Sahara, with a night under a starry sky… we will attend to lie down it of the sun in dunes of Erg Chebbi that constitute the big curiosity of the corner. It is real moving sculptures in the shape of draperies whose colours vary according to the intensity of light. They stand as the living defensive walls to doors of the desert. Dinner and overnight under nomad tent in Merzouga Dunes.
Day 6: Merzouga – Erfoud – Tineghir – Boumalen Dadès
Departure towards Tineghir, along the Ziz Valley, surrounded by tamarisks and palm trees, visit of the palm grove followed by an incursion inside the Todra gorges, to the end of the carriage way, along an impressively high and narrow canyon. Lunch and continuation to Boumalen Dades running along the Dadès Valley, on the 1001 Kasbahs road, and from oasis to oasis, dinner and overnight in Boumalen Dades.
Day 7: Boumalen Dadès – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
After breakfast we leave to Marrakech via Ouarzazate, which is the first town, most populated after crossing the High Atlas, it is the unofficial capital of the south of Morocco. Formerly a Foreign Legion outpost in the southern Kasbah region, it has been notably used as a location backdrop by many epic films such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, the Mommy, 7 days in Tebet, Babel, Alexander the great…We visit the restored Taourirt Kasbah, which has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage of Humanity Site with its ochre adobe buildings. This ancient residence of Pacha Glaoui has been perfectly restored using traditional techniques; the village, with its several hundred inhabitants, is a living treasure. It is one of the places where you can admire the wealth of the local craftwork which includes carpets, furniture, reed baskets, pottery, jewellery and Berber daggers.
Return to Marrakech where we will have dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 8 : Marrakech - Beni Mellal – Ifrane - Fez
Early departure from your hotel in Marrakech direction the fascinating cultural city of Fez. We will take the road of Beni Mellal, an agricultural market and centre of commerce in rapid growth, with 625 m of altitude, we will have a short coffee-break close to the famous falls of Ain Asserdoune, then we continue our way through an alternation of grandiose landscapes: limestone plateaus, rivers falling into cascades, volcanic peaks, thick and somber cedar and oak tree forests. Dinner and overnight in Fez.
Day 9 : Fez sightseeing city tour full-day
After breakfast, the whole day will be devoted in discovering Fez, oldest imperial cities in Morocco. It is well known for its spiritual and educational contributions to the Moroccan culture. Then comes a ride to the medieval Medina. You will also explore the famous Souks where craftsmen still labor from the age-old oriental tradition. Lunch will afterwards take place in a Moroccan traditional restaurant, before resuming the visit in the afternoon. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 10 : Fez – Chefchaouen - Tangier
Morning breakfast at your hotel, then we will return back to Tangier through the fabulous city of Chefchaouen, one of the most beautiful small towns in the Rif Mountains, it is painted in hues of blue. We will have a guided city tour to discover the beautiful places and small corners of Chefchaouen, then we will continue to Tangier where our tour will end.
